San Francisco Opera presents: Billy Budd with Ragazzi Boys Chorus
Billy Budd:
Ragazzi Midshipmen soloists Talinn Hatti and Marvin Valdez, and eight of our very own Powder Monkeys join the San Francisco Opera’s cast of Billy Budd. Ragazzi choristers will perform alongside world-class professional musicians in this classic Benjamin Britten opera.
When young Billy is pressed into naval service aboard the H.M.S. Indomitable, the recruit’s youth and innocence arouse devotion from the crew, but a commanding officer’s suspicions and dark desire threaten to throw order into chaos. Britten’s tempestuous masterpiece based on the novella by Herman Melville returns to San Francisco Opera for the first time in 15 years.
