I Dream a World
Released December 1, 2016
Recorded at Skywalker Sound in 2016, this collection is inspired by Harlem Renaissance poet Langston Hughes’s “I Dream a World”. Like the poem’s yearning for unity and generosity, these music selections explore people’s relationships with each other, with their world and with the divine.
Highlights include J.S. Bach’s Domine Deus, from his Mass in G Major BWV 236, and three movements from John Rutter’s gorgeous arrangement of Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, Opus 48: the Sanctus, Agnus Dei and the hushed intensity of the final In Paradisum. America’s civil rights legacy is honored in Glory, from the film Selma. The haunting, interwoven chants of the Sufi melody Adinu introduce music from the Arabic tradition. These and more are a feast for the ears, in Ragazzi’s first studio recording in ten years!
Splendors of the Italian Baroque
Features works by Handel, Caccini, Monteverdi, Allegri, and other masters. Joined by the Orchestra Baroque, Ragazzi recreates the ethereal sounds of double choir music and the lively rhythms of music composed for the Sistine Chapel in Rome and St. Mark’s in Venice. Released in 2009.
Canciones de Alabanza
This 2001 CD was released in conjunction with Ragazzi’s Christmas concerts. Songs celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus, and honor his mother. This collection has a distinctively Latin flavor and includes selections from Ariel Ramirez’ Misa Criolla.
A Holiday Collection
Released in 1998, this holiday collection features favorites such as Mozart’s Laudate Dominum and Brahms’ Ave Maria along with music of the season. Ragazzi can be heard performing several pieces from their very successful concert tour of Italy in June 1998, including pieces sung at St.Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
